30 Day Countdown, Day 4: Big Ten Power Rankings

Photo by Logan Riely/Getty Images The dawn of a new era calls for a pecking order for Washington and its peers. This ranking will be updated throughout the season and is a reflection of which teams I believe will be the best this season. How one team may match up against another was not considered. 1. Ohio State The Buckeyes went all in through the transfer portal, hoping to capture a national https://www.gamedaywashington.com championship and reclaim the throne in its rivalry with Michigan. Notable transfers include quarterback Will Howard, running back Quinshon Judkins and safety Caleb Downs. The Buckeyes have talent at every position on the field and are the favorite in the eyes of many to capture the Big Ten crown. 2. Oregon Oregon will have a thing or two to say about that as Dan Lanning looks to take the next step with the program by winning his first conference championship while eyeing the national title as well. He knows what it takes to reach that goal, doing so as Georgia's defensive coordinator in 2021. 3. Penn StateWhile there's a perceived gap between Penn State and the favorites to win the conference, plenty of hype surrounds the Nittany Lions. It looks pretty likely that Penn State will end up in the College Football Playoff due to its expansion and the lack of divisions in the Big Ten. No team benefited more from realignment than PSU because it is no longer forced to battle Ohio State and Michigan every season.
